Project overview
The £14 million extension and refurbishment is a major phase of the Dulwich College masterplan by John McAslan + Partners. It replaced a 1950s structure next to the listed Charles Barry Junior buildings of the school, which has stood in south London for nearly 400 years.
The new S-shaped building has a three-storey atrium, new science laboratories and a 240-seat auditorium. Five Informatics suites and dedicated floors for biology, physics and chemistry give flexible teaching space, with individual labs able to be reconfigured as science studios.
GA Interiors started on site in April 2023, working for main contractor LIFE Build.
Our scope
GA Interiors delivered:
- Steel framing systems (SFS)
- Drylining to the laboratories, Informatics suites, auditorium and atrium
- Plastering and tape and joint finishes
- Insulation
- Fire stopping
Outcome
The works were completed over 14 months and handed over in June 2024, giving the college a safe, modern and adaptable teaching building alongside its historic campus.
